Ms. Lottie Spurlock and Ms. Katrece Nolen are guest panelists for this discussion. While Ms. Spurlock will draw on her equity role within the LCPS administrative framework; Ms. Nolen will focus on her advocacy support to LCPS in its quest to build school climates that focus on the development of each student's individual and specific needs for success. They will focus on how equity is student centered and student specific making sure every learner has the resources, support and guidance needed for success. It is important to understand that equity and equality are vastly different. Equality applies the same standard or measure for each student; equity divorces itself from factors like race, culture and treating students equally and instead focuses on meeting each student where he/she is and launching from that foundation to help him realize full potential.
