The foresight of Psi Rho Omega began with the vision of two insightful charter members, Monica Ashton Hutcherson and Clarine Simpson Vaughn of Leesburg, Virginia. Both realized that as the fastest growing county in the United States, Loudoun County, Virginia would be a perfect place for Alpha Kappa Alpha to develop a new chapter. Subsequently, contact was made with other sorority members in the county and the necessary steps were taken to officially establish an interest group.
In 2009, twenty-five members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® came together to form an interest group to serve the residents of Loudoun County, Virginia. In 2010, four additional members joined the group. In February 2011, the group selected the name “Pearls of Loudoun” and officially began its journey toward becoming a chapter. Over the next year, the Pearls of Loudoun worked hard in providing programs that met the needs of many underprivileged and underserved residents of Loudoun County.

On June 30, 2012, the Psi Rho Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was chartered at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, VA. Dr. Linda H. Gilliam, Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, presided over the chartering ceremony.
Today, Psi Rho Omega stands committed, ready, willing and able to provide “service to all mankind”. Our chapter will continue to think globally and act locally in Loudoun County, Virginia.
